Gotska Sandön

Gotska Sandön is an uninhabitad island in the Baltic Sea. It has been a national park for more than 100 years. The island consists almost entirely of sand. Had it not been for the coldish water surrounding it, one might have mistaken it for being somewhere int the Maldives. The unusual habitat has made the island a haven for birds and insects, attracting ornithologists and insect biologists en masse.
