Keoladeo National Park


This nature reserv is predominantely known for the plethora of both native and migratory birds residing there. However, with some luck, one might encounter many different kinds of mammals and reptiles as well.



The nature reserve is quite big, some 29 km². Some areas were rather desolate, at least when it comes to people. While off the beaten track, we ran into a number of different antelopes, chital and nilgai, among others. We had close encounters with a couple of golden jackals, a mongoose, some sort of wild boars, and even a large snake - a checkered keelback I believe. We could not understand why there were no people there what with all the exciting animals. But then we realized... (middle picture below).
