Kruger National Park

The Kruger National Park in South Africa is covering an area of 19,623 km2, roughly the same size as the Municipality Värmland in Sweden, the country of Wales in Europe or the state of New Jersey in the US. It extends 360 km from north to south and 65 km from east to west. In 1926 it became South Africa's first national park.

The Greater Kruger is made up of a number of privately owned game reserves to the west of the government-owned Kruger Park. There are no fences towards the Kruger which makes it easy for wildlife to migrate the entire area. In the private game reserves you actually stand a chance to get closer to the wildlife as there are fewer visitors and your guides are allowed to drive off-road and even carry out walking safaris completely in the wild.

During our stay we visited the Klaserie game reserve with Africa on Foot and the Maseke Game reserve with Nyati Safari.
